An epiphany

The earthquake hit and I grabbed my nutsack and tumbled two floors down without realiazing Niki was still in the room content, pacing, looking for the keys or however she stress manages earthquakes. When she met me downstairs, she gave me a gleaming look of awe and disapproval. My feet still shaking from the tremors. What she said turned out to be patchy sound clips about how I left her behind. True. I did indeed, but it was my first, so I couldn’t hold back the raw emotion and surprise. I do what a kitten does in fear of destruction and devastation.

As calm settled, I realized the mockery on her part and figured out how she found it all to be gut-destroyingly hilarious. From them on, I never heard the end of it. Friends: Andre, Ana, Cousins: Angelica, Parents: Mom, Dad, In laws: God forbid. Epiphany has a way of slithering through the cracks of fear. Courage took a while to show up on its unicorn. While I somehow gathered myself to reenter the building, considering situating my foot on the first step, why not you, dear bubble fumble, take part in this epiphany too. We are both one of the same dusty blister. I impart my love and tragedies and you enrich yourself in the mockery.

This is where it comes together. While, it may seem like I have no idea where I am going with this, it is seemingly the truth as well. Here, three years later, in the district of San Isidro, Lima, Peru, I recount what should have been done ever since I began this journey, but lateness to my own demise is never a deterrent. I strive to provide you with a document, be it transitory, a glimpse, or a scratch of the surface, as important it is to me, and however insignificant for you, it is still a spark that will ignite divergences in flavor, absurdism and newness in the scope of the beholder.
